Maxx has seven (7) AKC Champions of Record and one Canadian Champion and other puppies working toward their Championships.

Maxx loves his therapy dog visits (nursing homes/rehab, hospitals, reading with rover program and Special Olympics) and prefers visits to showing and coursing even though he has his 2 Majors in coursing. We co-owned Rogue with Heather and Eugene Queener who showed Rogue from Bred-by Exhibitor classes finishing his Championship at 18 months at the 1999 RRCUS National Specialty as Winners Dog. Rogue produced 13 Champions plus other major pointed get, and was sire to CH Jubalee’s Lonestar Over Kei River, JC, ROM (“Riley”) the 2008 Top Ten Stud Dog. In 2004, Rogue was tied as #4 Top Ten Stud Dog; and in 2006, he was #8 Top Ten Stud Dog. Rogue had the sweetest and most laid back easy going temperament which is a quality he passed on. Rogue tend to pass along bone and balance, as he is not over-angulated in the rear and has good should layback and good length/return of upper arm. He passes along a nice crested neck and lovely feet. We lost Rogue to splenic hemangiosarcoma.

Akita Dogs

CALL NAME:  KUMA

CH KULO HOSHI KUMA, CGC – WF799984 (Multi BOB & Group Placements) (01/12/1986 – 08/09/1999)

Kuma Our Champions

SIRE:  CH MAGIC N TUX-N-TAILS

DAM:  TSUNG CHUNG YOUNG

OFA Hips: Fair; CERF: Normal; Thyroid: Normal

COLOR: Fawn with Black Mask       HEIGHT:  26”     WEIGHT: 100 LBS.

In 1986, we acquired our first Akita, CH Kulo Hoshi Kuma (Kuma) as a family pet. At 6 months, the Akita Matriarch of Texas, Carole Thykeson (Yokohama Akitas) who I had met over the phone asking questions about the Akita, asked me to bring him to her house so she could see him. After moving him, she told me I was crazy not to show him. He had a commanding presence when he walked into the show site and the show ring. Judges hated his color because he wasn’t flashy but told me they had to put him up because of his movement. Even at 12 when I pulled him out of retirement, he beat the younger dogs for Breed because of his movement and rear which he stamped on his offspring. Kuma had tight knuckle feet and small round tipped ears. Kuma passed his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test 12/4/1993. We retired Kuma when he was on top and #6 in the Working Group. Kuma only bred to select bitches and had 5 Champions of Record and 1 Canadian Champion.

We have Kuma’s frozen semen available to approved bitches.
