Krispi Cream was whelped on December 7, 2003, and I showed her at the National Specialty in 2004. Breeder Judge Barbara Sawyer-Brown gave Krispi at 9 months Reserve Winners Bitch. We won a Major when she was one year old, then one 3 Point Major and two 4 Point Majors out of Bred-By Exhibitor Classes. I was hoping for a courser like her famous dam Kito Bandido; however she was more of the “princess” type and didn’t like it, as she thought it was too hot, plus she preferred to chase the real bunnies and squirrels at our home. She is a very soft and gentle RR and yet our protector and will let us know when something isn’t right.

As responsible breeders we never bred Krispi because in her litter of eight (8) three were diagnosed with megaesophagus and euthanized at five weeks old.

In 2008, at the Nationals in Gettysburg, the best win we ever had was Kito and her daughter Krispi Cream winning 1^st Place out of 9 teams in Brace. Kito was 9+ years old and Krispi Cream 5+ years old. Kerry Williams said when she looked across the ring and saw only one dog moving, she knew they had it.

Gabi’s first time in the AKC Championship ring at 8 months won a 3 point Major owner handled. Gabi has been working toward her AKC Therapy Dog title visiting nursing homes/rehab, and soon will participate in hospice visits and completed her 50th visit on October 8, 2017. On July 8, 2017, Emma Marshall, Professional All Breed Handler, finished Gabi’s Championship with 4 Majors and 2 single Points. Gabi absolutely adores her BFF Emma.

On September 19, 2017, we had Gabi spayed. In her litter of five (5) she was the only female. One littermate died at 3 years of a very aggressive cancer within a week, another diagnosed with Seasonal Flank Alopecia and 3 of the 4 males did not descend either one or two testicals which is hereditary and both the stud dog and dam has to carry the gene.  In addition another half littermate had been diagnosed at 4 years with neuropathy problems, and we will not knowingly pass on health issues.

In October, 2018, Gabi and Emma won First out of eight (8) in the Altered Bitch class at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Nationals. We are so proud of the girls.

In 1999, we acquired our first Rhodesian Ridgeback Kito Bandido from Calluna Ridgebacks (Heather Juhl). Kito was called “the brat” at Heather’s home and when she came to live with us, she wanted to be called “precious” so we looked in the Swahili dictionary and found Kito meant “precious jewel.”  

As fate would have it, she was our once-in-a-lifetime Secretariat earning multiple titles and multiple Best in Fields in lure coursing.In 2002, we retired Kito on top and bred her to CH Juba Lee’s What About Bob, CD, ROM (Kerry Williams). Kito produced 5 wonderful puppies with two entering into competition: the 2004 RRCUS National Specialty Reserve Winners Bitch, CH Calluna Krispi Cream JubaLee, JC, RN (Krispi Cream) who finished with 4 Majors and 3 out of Bred-By whom we love and own and is retired at 11+ years, and MBIF BISS Calluna White Russian, MC, LCX (Ivan) who was in the Top Ten for two years (won Best In Sweeps at the 2004 World Congress plus 44 Group Placements and a number of Award of Merits) was owned & loved by Lynne & Terry Newman.

Kuma’s daughter, S’kebe came to live with us in 1987.  We bred her twice to two different males and she produced 3 champions.  S’kebe passed her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test 12/4/1993. She was a great family member and we loved her very much.
